National Active & Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association -- Chapter 313
A light luncheon was provided members and guests prior to the October 5 meeting. President Stegeman called the meeting to order at noon. A. C. Pearre gave the invocation
which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Stegeman introduced Erica Quade, a consultant for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Quade discussed the changes in the different plans of insurance for 2011 and answered the
group's numerous questions.
Stegeman, reporting for the treasurer, said there was $212.18 in the local Hawthorn Bank and $8,963.65 in National NARFE Credit Union. The minutes of our previous meeting were approved as read by secretary.
President Stegeman led a discussion on getting Chapter Officers for 2011. She asked for volunteers resulting in a couple of acceptances and a tentative acceptance for officers. A final slate of officers will be presented at the November meeting.
Stegeman asked for any new contact names to include in the mailings to active and retired federal employees. She is going to contact AAA Mailing Services, Inc. to check on
getting a reduced rate for these mailings.
On legislative issues, Ned Diekroeger reported on efforts to meet with Vicky Hartzler(R), candidate for the 4th Congressional District and with Robin Carnahan(D),
candidate for the U.S. Senate. He also reported on recent meeting efforts with U.S. Senate candidates and 7th Congressional District candidates in Springfield, MO.
Diekroeger asked members for ideas for speakers for our chapter's forthcoming meetings. Terry Stone won the 50/50 drawing. The next meeting will be Tuesday. November 2 at noon at the American Legion building.
