National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association serves those who serve and have served our nation. NARFE is the only association dedicated to protecting earned retirement benefits of federal employees, retirees and their survivors. NARFE's commitment is to secure the future that federal employees have worked to achieve for themselves and their families.

SOMETHING ABOUT OUR ASSOCIATION

Founded by 14 federal workers in 1921, NARFE has grown into today a major lobby force on Capitol Hill and states across the nation in our behalves. NARFE is an effective and respected legislative voice for federal workers and retirees. Narfe also has 50 state federations plus District of Columbia, Panama, Philippines, and Puerto Rico. Narfe has 1,710 chapters nationwide. Members keep up-to-date on federal, state and local legislative developments, judicial actions, and regulatory changes mostly through NARFEs monthly magazine. "NARFE Retirement Life - for Active and Retired Federal Employees." Narfe's 54 federations and their 1,710 chapters also alert Narfe members about local concerns.

Preserving Our Benefits: Federal employees earn retirement benefits that NARFE works to protect. Narfes objectives are to:
  • Sponsor and support legislation to protect the earned benefits and general welfare of its members;
  • Oppose legislation which adversely affects member retirement and health benefit programs;
  • Foster public recognition and appreciation of government service;
  • Cooperate with other organizations seeking to accomplish similar legislative goals;
  • Inform members about legislative issues that impact their lives, primarily retirement income and health care security;
  • Strengthen the political influence of current and future federal retirees through NARFE-PAC, a political action committee;
  • Work in partnership with the Office of Personnel Management to answer questions related to retirement benefits;
  • Contribute to the well-being of local communities through volunteer service.

Strenthening Political Influence

NARFE is a nationwide network of legislative activists with an enviable record of success in staving off the constant barrage of threats to the earned retirement income and health care protection of federal workers and annuitants. NARFE is an effective legislative voice for federal workers, retirees and survivors. Click to READ MORE...
